Teacher Assistant

A teacher assistant in primary classes plays a crucial role in supporting the teacher and enhancing the learning experience for students. The specific job duties may vary depending on the classroom needs, but here is a general job description for a teacher assistant in primary classes:

Key requirements:

• University degree or equivalent
• Minimum upper intermediate level of English
• Be interculturally aware with well-developed interpersonal skills
• Be committed to supporting high standards of student behavior and wellbeing
• Be collaborative and able to work as part of a team

Essential duties and responsibilities:

Classroom support:

• Assist the teacher in preparing and organizing instructional materials for lessons.
• Help set up and maintain an engaging and organized classroom environment.
• Support classroom management by monitoring student behavior and maintaining discipline.
• Assist with transitioning between activities and managing student routines.
• Provide individualized attention and support to students who require additional help.

Administrative tasks:

• Assist in record-keeping, such as taking attendance or maintaining student files.
• Help with clerical tasks, such as photocopying, organizing materials, or distributing resources.
• Support the teacher in managing classroom resources, such as textbooks or learning materials.
• Assist in the supervision of students during recess, lunch breaks, or field trips.
• Collaborate with the teacher and other staff members to ensure a safe and orderly learning environment.

• Maintain open and effective communication with the teacher, parents, and other school staff.
• Provide feedback to the teacher on student progress, challenges, and achievements.
• Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and parent-teacher conferences as required.
