Senior Electrical Engineer

Work Location: Baku

Position Overview:

• The Senior Electrical Engineer will provide technical leadership and engineering expertise across the design, development and execution of electrical systems and equipment packages. The role is responsible for delivering technically sound and cost-effective solutions for LV, MV and HV systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications, applicable codes and industry standards. The position will also provide technical guidance to engineering teams, coordinate with clients, OEMs and other disciplines, and support projects throughout engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning stages.

Key Functions:

• Review detailed electrical system designs, specifications, single-line diagrams, load calculations, cable sizing, short-circuit studies and protection coordination for LV/MV/HV system
• Provide technical leadership and guidance throughout all stages of electrical engineering activities
• Review and approve electrical engineering drawings, calculations, specifications and other technical deliverables
• Ensure electrical designs comply with applicable international codes and standards, including IEC, NEC and IEEE, as well as client and project requirements
• Lead the development, customization and delivery of electrical equipment packages, including switchgear, transformers, MCCs, UPS systems, cables and bulks and modular substations.
• Manage electrical package activities from design and procurement through FAT, delivery, installation, testing and commissioning
• Prepare and review technical documentation for procurement, including datasheets, specifications, RFQs and technical bid evaluations
• Review vendor and OEM technical proposals, drawings and documentation and ensure compliance with project requirements
• Act as a senior technical interface with clients, OEMs, vendors and internal project teams
• Coordinate electrical engineering activities with other disciplines, including Instrumentation, HVAC, Fire Safety and Telecommunications
• Identify and resolve complex technical issues and provide engineering solutions to project, construction and commissioning teams
• Review and respond to technical queries (TQs) from clients, vendors and site teams
• Support sales and business development teams in the preparation and technical review of proposals, budgets and customized electrical solutions
• Participate in bid evaluations and provide technical input during tender and proposal stages
• Review method statements, compliance matrices and other technical documentation prepared for project execution and proposals
• Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure engineering deliverables are completed in accordance with project schedules, budgets and milestones
• Provide technical support during construction, installation, testing and commissioning activities
• Conduct and lead site visits, technical inspections, FAT/SAT activities and commissioning support when required
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and graduate electrical engineers

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
• 8+ years of relevant experience in electrical engineering, design and package engineering, preferably within Oil & Gas, Energy or Industrial sectors
• Strong experience in the design and engineering of LV, MV and HV electrical systems
• Proven experience in electrical equipment package management and coordination with OEMs and vendors
• Experience in reviewing and approving engineering deliverables and vendor documentation
• Experience supporting projects through engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning stages
• Previous experience in providing technical guidance or mentoring to junior engineers is preferred

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong proficiency in electrical design and engineering softwares
• Advanced knowledge of LV, MV and HV electrical systems, equipment and protection principles
• Strong knowledge of electrical calculations, system studies and protection coordination
• Good understanding of SCADA, PLC interfaces and integration with Instrumentation and Control systems
• Strong knowledge of international electrical codes and standards, including IEC, NEC and IEEE
• Strong technical review, analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Ability to independently evaluate technical issues and develop practical engineering solutions
• Excellent communication, coordination and client-facing skills
• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple engineering priorities and deadlines
• Fluent in Azerbaijani and English; Russian language skills are advantageous
